By Rubén Morales Iglesias: Six Belizeans, including Ministry of Agriculture, Food Security, and Enterprise (MAFSE) representatives, are currently undergoing short courses and training in food processing in Taiwan, said MAFSE.
“They are doing their courses at the National Kaohsiung University of Science and Technology and will also visit local enterprises around Kaohsiung City and in Taipei,” said MAFSE.
“The training program in Taiwan comes through the Taiwan International Cooperation and Development Fund (ICDF) and includes participants from other Central and South American countries. Participants left for Taiwan on 16 October and will leave Taiwan until 1 November.”
MAFSE said the Ministry staff members taking the training are Miguel Huertas of the Orange Walk Agriculture Department and Ana Howe of the Agro-processing Unit at Central Farm. The other Belizeans in the group include Jennilee Donis of the University of Belize and small business owners Paul Smith, Shamera Chi and Jennine Lisbey.
MAFSE said all six had previously participated in an online training course in agro-processing from the National Kaohsiung University of Science and Technology earlier this year.
