By Zoila Palma Gonzalez: The Ministry of Economic Development says that Economist, Gabrielle Hulse is attending the face-to-face component of a 6-month training, titled: “Financing Social Protection and Key Social Sectors that Matter for Children” in St. Lucia.
Hulse is joined by Shawn Vargas from the Ministry of Human Development, Families and Indigenous Peoples’ Affairs, and Enkhnasan Nasan-Ulzii from UNICEF.
The training was organized by the United Nations Children’s Fund Eastern Caribbean Area (UNICEF Eastern Caribbean), in collaboration with the International Labour Organization’s International Training Center (ITCILO).
The training aims at strengthening the capacity of key national stakeholders in identifying and mitigating the bottlenecks of public finance management to optimize spending for social sectors, inclusive of social protection in this post-COVID era.
Hulse had the privilege of sharing her expertise on disaster risk financing in Belize and will obtain a certificate of achievement from the ITCILO.
Hulse says that she is happy for the opportunity to represent Belize in St. Lucia.
“I got to be in a room full of social policy and finance professionals in the Caribbean who have definitely given me a lot of learning experiences to take home,” Hulse said.
