International News: Sinaloa Cartel Kingpin “El Chapo” makes appeal to overturn life sentence to get out of prison

By Zoila Palma Gonzalez: Sinaloa Cartel Kingpin, Joaquin “El Chapo” Guzman Loera is making an appeal to overturn his life sentence to get out of prison, Latin Post reports.

“El Chapo” is appealing to the courts claiming that U.S. prosecutors wronged him in his racketeering conspiracy case.

The appeal was signed by himself and not an attorney, asking to be freed or retired.

Legal analyst for ABC7, Gil Soffer said that El Chapo is applying for the appeal himself since he previously criticized his lawyers and claimed unfair extradition by the U.S. and prosecutors’ unlawful treatment.

“El Chapo” would need to prove that his constitutional rights were indeed violated, and the outcome of his trial would have been different if they had not been violated.
