Benque Viejo United challenge San Pedro Pirates in last home game of Premier League of Belize championship tonight

By Rubén Morales Iglesias: Benque Viejo United are making their last home stand tonight in the Premier League of Belize Opening Championship against San Pedro Pirates tonight at the Edmund Marshalleck Stadium in Benque Viejo del Carmen.

The San Pedro Pirates are gunning to take over second place, at least momentarily, with a win over Benque United. At the moment, San Pedro and National Champions Verdes are tied at 21 points, though the Pirates have one game less. A win tonight puts them at 24 points, forcing Verdes to win on Sunday against Wagiya to regain the second position.

Benque United who are presently in sixth place with 14 points need a win to keep their playoff hopes alive. A victory tonight is a must.

While San Pedro Pirates are going in as favourites, Benque United are confident that if they can take down Verdes at the Marshalleck, they can do likewise with the Pirates.

San Pedro are banking on striker Horace Avila who has seven goals while Benque are dependent on Argentine forward Ayrton Sisa who has four.
