Patrick Faber removes anti-leadership posts as recall movement gathers pace

By Aaron Humes: Today, Collet area representative Patrick Faber announced he has removed from his official page “all posts which members of the UDP National Party Council feel are not helpful to promoting such party unity, as expressed in a letter to Hon. Patrick Faber dated September 20, 2022.”

He does so, he states, in the interest of party unity while reserving the right to freedom of expression as cited in the Constitution.

Faber, as well as his constituency committee, adds, “We remain committed to the principles and mission of the UDP, and will continue to focus our energies on representing the people of Collet and the nation of Belize as we have been consistently elected to do.”

This would theoretically clear the way for his application to be standard bearer to be reconsidered, setting the stage for either a straight fight with contender Ian Jones if successful or an endorsement of either man.

We also note that subsequent to our story last night, Jones’ mother and chair of the committee Carol Jones Swaso has agreed to stay in place pending the naming of a replacement.

On Friday, a petition with 201 signatures triggered a recall process against leader Moses “Shyne” Barrow, which he has already said appears to be tainted by coercion and misrepresentation.
