One man detained for teen girl’s rape and robbery

By Aaron Humes: Police have detained a 25-year-old man from Ladyville, Belize District, in relation to a sexual assault and robbery investigation involving a minor, 17.

On Saturday morning, police responded to a report of a teenage girl sleeping in the nude in a vehicle near Mile 10 1/2 on the Philip Goldson Highway.

The complainant was distressed as she told officers that she did not know how she got to the area, but that she had apparently been robbed and raped sometime during the night.

The teen also told authorities that the last thing she recalled was that she was at a wake with some friends and thereafter, they left to go to a popular nightclub in the area. She says that it was not long after arriving at the location, she lost consciousness.

Police are investigating.
