Port Layola trounce Belmopan Bandits 5-0 in Premier League of Belize

By Rubén Morales Iglesias: Port Layola were merciless against the Belmopan Bandits on Sunday at the MCC Grounds in Belize pounding the Belmopan side 5-0.

Sean Young started the onslaught in the 12^th minute with his sixth goal of the season. Orlando Velasquez then made it 2-0 in the 22’. Jarett Davis secured the 3-0 lead at the 42’ and Jerome ‘Jarro’ James added one more in the 70’. Ryan Simpson then sealed the 5-0 win in the 74’.

The victory pushes Port Layola to 13 points, skipping over Benque United, who also have 13, into sixth place. The win also keeps Port’s hopes of making the playoffs.

Port have two games left. They play Wagiya on Wednesday afternoon in Dangriga and close against Altitude on Saturday in Independence.

The Bandits, who will finish in last place with their eight points, face their nemesis Verdes, in their final match of the tournament on Saturday night at the Isidoro Beaton in Belmopan.
