With the Xunantunich Archaeological Reserve in San Jose Succotz fully open, all archaeological reserves in Belize are now open following a few days in which a number of them were not accessible because the nearby rivers had high water levels.

“The Xunantunich Archaeological Reserves is now open with vehicle crossing at the Ferry,” said the Institute of Archaeology/National Institute of Culture and History (IA/NICH) on Tuesday morning.

“All other archaeological reserves are open for visitation. There will be no more notices unless the situation changes.”

However, the IA/NICH said it will continue monitoring river conditions and provide necessary updates. The IA/NICH advised visitors to the national reserves to exercise caution and to be aware of weather conditions and the possibility of flash floods.
