Altitude down San Pedro Pirates 1-0, secure Premier League of Belize top spot on Andrés Orozco goal

By Rubén Morales Iglesias: Colombian Andrés Orozco led Altitude to a 1-0 victory over the San Pedro Pirates and secured the top spot of the Premier League of Belize’s (PLB) 2022 Opening Championship which ends on the weekend.

Orozco scored the previously three-time postponed match’s lone goal at the Michael Ashcroft Stadium in Independence in the 37^th minute.

Altitude now have 29 points, a total that Verdes, their closest competitor, cannot match. With only one game left in the regular season, Verdes can now only total 27 points.

San Pedro remain in third place with 22 points but can still finish second should they win over Progresso on the weekend and Verdes lose to the Belmopan Bandits. But that’s not going to be easy as Progresso need to secure a playoff spot and it’s highly improbable that Bandits will beat Verdes

Altitude can still reach or surpass the 30-point mark with a draw or win when they meet Port Layola on Saturday at Independence.
