By Breaking Belize News Staff: This week, the Supreme Court granted bail to Ladyville resident 25-year-old Michael Llewellyn Flowers, who stands accused of raping a 17-year-old female.

Flowers appeared in court on Friday before Justice Francis Cumberbatch, after spending four nights at the Belize Central Prison. Flowers’s attorney, Norman Rodriguez, made his bail application, which was successful and he was granted bail in the sum of $10,000, plus two sureties of $5,000 each which he was able to meet.

As per the conditions of his bail, Flowers needs to surrender all travel documents, sign in at a designated police station twice a week, refrain from having any contact with the complainant personally, via a third party, or on social media, and refrain from being arrested for any other offense while he is out on bail. Flowers is also barred from applying for replacement travel documents, and cannot leave Belize without permission from the court.

Flowers is accused of raping the minor in the early morning of Saturday, October 22. The victim reported to police that she had gone to Eruption Nightclub and later woke up wearing only her underwear, inside a vehicle that was parked near Mile 10 1/2 on the Philip Goldson Highway.

On Monday, Flowers was arraigned in the Belize City Magistrate’s Court but was denied bail in the first instance and sent to prison until his next court date, which is set for December 29.

The owner and manager of Eruption Nightclub have also since been charged for admitting a minor into their establishment.
