Altitude eliminate Port Layola with 2-1 win

By Rubén Morales Iglesias: Premier League of Belize (PLB) leaders Altitude beat Port Layola 2-1 at the Michael Ashcroft Stadium, doing away with any hopes the Belize City side had of qualifying to the playoffs.

Colombian forward Andrés Orozco scored his eleventh goal of the season via a penalty kick in the 8^th minute to give the home side a 1-0 lead.

But Port were undaunted and rallied back, drawing the score level when Ian Gaynair converted in the 34^th.

However, Luis ‘Baca’ Torres nailed a second for Altitude in the 63′.

The score remained unchanged knocking out Port who remained with 16 points while Progresso improved to 18 on a 2-2 with San Pedro.

Port will have to wait for the Closing Championship for another shot at the playoffs. Altitude, on the other hand, are on to the semifinals against fourth place Progresso.
