By Rubén Morales Iglesias: The Institute of Archaeology/National Institute of Culture and History (IA/NICH) said it is closing five archaeological reserves as of Tuesday morning.
The (IA/NICH) said Barton Creek, Actun Tunichil Muknal (ATM Caves), Serpon Sugar Mill, Cerro Maya, and Caracol “will be closed for business as of Tuesday, November 1, 2022, as the Institute of Archaeology, NICH prepares for Tropical Storm Lisa”.
The IA/NICH said that when the All-Clear is given by the National Emergency Management Organization (NEMO), it will advise when these archaeological reserves will be reopened.
