By Benjamin Flowers: The Japanese Community in Belize has announced that events planned for the celebration of Japan Week, have been postponed due to the incoming tropical storm.

Breaking Belize News spoke with community representatives who explained that the events were postponed until further notice as the country prepares to weather Tropical Storm Lisa.

The first event on the calendar, the signature Japan Day festival, was held on Sunday, October 30, in Belize City.

Japanese Ambassador H.E. Kazuhiro Iryu said that this year’s festivities are special, as Belize and Japan celebrate 40 years of friendly diplomatic relations.

There was an anime film screening, a three-night event planned at the Bliss Center for performing arts, running from November 1-3, among other events that were postponed.
