Belize Weather: Hurricane Lisa dominates

By Breaking Belize News Staff: Today’s weather report is dominated by now-Hurricane Lisa, which will make landfall Wednesday evening.

As a result, skies will be cloudy to overcast with numerous periods of light to moderate rain over most areas along with showers and thunderstorms. Full hurricane conditions are expected this afternoon and evening into tonight, but these conditions will gradually subside into Thursday morning following landfall.

High temperatures peak at 80 degrees Fahrenheit along the coast, 84 degrees in inland areas and 75 degrees in the hills. Tonight’s low temperatures are 77 degrees along the coast, 72 degrees inland and 66 degrees in the hills.

Winds will blow from the north to northeast at 15 to 25 knots and gusty, becoming north at 50 to 75 miles per hour and gusty. Sea state is high with waves of ten to twenty-two feet.

All of Belize’s coast remains under a hurricane warning as well as a small craft warning (meaning all boats should remain in safe harbour and flood warning for low-lying and flood-prone areas.

Tides will be low at 11:46 this morning and 11:19 this evening and high at 6:08 this evening. The sun sets at 5:20 this evening and rises at 5:51 Thursday morning.

Thursday’s projected weather is for cloudy skies at times with a few showers and thunderstorms, mainly over the north at first, then mostly over the south at night.
