Ministry of Health and Wellness activates Emergency Operations Center

By Zoila Palma Gonzalez: The Ministry of Health and Wellness noted that at midday today, it activated its Emergency Operations Center in Belmopan.

The Ministry has been closely monitoring the developments of Hurricane Lisa through its Liaison Officer, who sits on the National Emergency Management Organization Board.

“Our primary objective is to safeguard the uninterrupted management of essential and emergency services countrywide and to ensure that patients and staff at our healthcare facilities are safe during and after the passage of Hurricane Lisa,” the Ministry noted.

ONLY emergency services will be attended to at the regional and community hospitals countrywide.

“We strongly advise persons to access the medical care they may need and to call the ministry at toll-free 0-800-MOH-CARE (0-800-664-2273) or 828-2224. For medical emergencies in your respective district, call the numbers below,” the Ministry added.

The public is urged to listen to official information from NEMO.

The Ministry says that its Emergency Operations Center will be operational and accessible throughout the passage of the storm until the ‘All Clear’ is announced by NEMO.
