By Aaron Humes: The Department of the Environment (DOE) has announced that the forthcoming Public Consultation for the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) report and Additional Information for the “Port of Belize Cruise Tourism Facility and Cargo Expansion” has been rescheduled.
Hurricane Lisa interrupted plans and so the session will now be held on November 11, 2022, at the Best Western Biltmore Hotel, commencing at 6:30 pm and live streamed on the Government of Belize Press Office Facebook Page.
A consultation was previously held in September drawing much opposition to plans to install the facility due to environmental concerns.
The EIA report and Additional Information continues to be available for review by the general public and is available on the DOE’s website at the link: https://doe.gov.bz/environmental-clearance/ The public is invited to submit their comments in writing on or before November 17, 2022, to the DOE Office in Belmopan or by email: [email protected]; [email protected]., or using the following link: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSd4x5SsLjYXU7CD649P1uFYeEPD6kPEGLVWAAFx44Rw3O48Rw/viewform?usp=sf_link
