By Rubén Morales Iglesias: The Premier League of Belize (PLB) meets on Thursday at midday to discuss the semifinals which were planned for the weekend.

The PLB will have to look at the stadiums and the feasibility of having the games this weekend.

Third-place San Pedro Pirates are scheduled to host second-place and defending Champions Verdes at Ambergris Stadium on Saturday night at 7:30 pm, while fourth-place Progresso is to play Altitude in Orange Walk on Sunday at 4:00 pm.

The PLB will decide today if and when they play the games.

League leaders Altitude are all set to play this weekend. The People’s Stadium reportedly still had some water on the pitch on Wednesday, while Ambergris Stadium is a synthetic pitch so it’s expected to be in good condition unless the infrastructure incurred any damage.

By this afternoon, we should have word from the PLB, but expect them to go ahead one way or another unless it were utterly impossible. They are pressed to finish their competition as planned due to the kickoff of the FIFA World Cup.
