Ministry of Human Development provides relief support for families in Belize District

By Zoila Palma Gonzalez: On Wednesday, November 2, 2022, Hurricane Lisa battered Belize displacing many, damaging homes and electrical poles, and causing flooding.

The Government of Belize agencies is now working together to restore, recover and rebuild.

The Ministry of Human Development, Families and Indigenous Peoples’ Affairs, Chair of the Relief and Supplies Management Committee is coordinating the delivery of food, water, hygiene kits, cleaning supplies, and tarps to families affected by Hurricane Lisa in Belize City and rural Belize District.

The Ministry’s initiative is supported by volunteers from the Belize Defense Force, Belize City Council, Ministry of Infrastructure Development and Housing (MIDH), Ministry of Sustainable Development, Belize Tax Services, and SJCJC students among others.

“Together we are getting it done,” the Ministry noted.
