Posted: Saturday, November 5, 2022. 1:31 pm CST.

By Zoila Palma Gonzalez: Hurricane Lisa battered Belize on Wednesday leaving many displaced, damaging homes, electricity poles, and causing flooding.

Prime Minister John Briceno says that “all hands are on deck” to recover and rebuild in the aftermath of Hurricane Lisa.

“The energy and hopeful spirit of our people are positively encouraging. We were hit but we’re not down and out. The central government, municipal bodies, and village community leadership have all joined hands and recovery has definitely begun. We will… and we are rebounding,” the Prime Minister said.

“We’re seeing to the needs of people and households, while simultaneously looking at what were economic losses and putting assistance programs in place,” he added.

The Government of Belize agencies and volunteers are now working together to restore, recover and rebuild.
