By Zoila Palma Gonzalez: Today, the Belize Zoo and Tropical Education extended gratitude to everyone for volunteering to help and donating and those who shared their post on social media.
“Clean up kicked off today. We managed to clear up the pathways at the front and remove limbs from the King Vulture habitat. The Amazon parrots and Hoodwink the Spectacled Owl are some of the first to head back into their habitats. The parrots are very vocal and seem happy to be back,” the Belize Zoo noted.
According to the Belize Zoo, strong winds from Hurricane Lisa also damaged the deck leading to the howler monkeys.
“We have a long way to go. More updates coming soon. Thanks once again to our colleagues and the community for reaching out to assist,” the statement added.
