Jamaican national charged with wounding says alleged victim is his estranged girlfriend who refuses to leave his home

By Breaking Belize News Staff: A 69-year-old Jamaican national living in Belize has been charged for injuring his estranged girlfriend during a domestic dispute.

Albert Campbell appeared in the Belize City Magistrate’s Court charged with a single count of wounding, to which he pleaded not guilty.

Campbell told the court that the 52-year-old female complainant refused to leave his home after they broke up, and that she is trying to take his property away.

There was no objection to bail and it was granted to him in the sum of $1,000 plus one surety of the same. His bail also came with the condition that he not have any contact with the complainant or any of her relatives, whether in person, by digital means, or through a third party.

In a report to police, the complainant alleged that Campbell saw her hugging someone she claims to be her cousin, and slapped her twice accusing her of being unfaithful. Campbell is currently seeking to have the restraining order he put out against the complainant renewed.
