By Zoila Palma Gonzalez: Last Wednesday, Hurricane Lisa ravaged through Belize damaging homes, schools, businesses, and knocking off power. Several homes in Belize City were completely destroyed.

Today, Director of Tourism, Evan Tillett presented a cheque for $50,000 to the Mayor of Belize City, Bernard Wagner.

The money will be used by the Belize City Council to assist Belize City residents whose homes were extensively damaged by Hurricane Lisa.

“Putting life back in order clearly will require strong efforts across different constituencies and entities, both public and private,” Mayor Wagner said.

“As a responsible corporate citizen, The Belize Tourism Board is happy to be able to contribute towards the rebuilding efforts of Belize City as well as assist Belizeans to return to a normal life,” the Belize Tourism Board (BTB) noted.
