By Breaking Belize News Staff: An Orange Walk-based car dealer has been charged for taking money for a downpayment on a vehicle but after two years has still not delivered it.

Thirty-seven-year-old Jonathan Alexander Burgos appeared in the Belize City Magistrate’s Court today, charged with a single count of obtaining property by deception with respect to $3,500 in cash taken from attorney, 67-year-old Mark Williams.

He pleaded not guilty to the charge and bail was granted to him in the sum of $2,000 plus one surety of the same, which he met.

Burgos is set to return to court on December 29.

Allegations are that Burgos collected the money on September 16, 2020. Williams told police that at every request for an update on the vehicle, Burgos provided an excuse, and did not return the down payment.
