Leader of the Opposition announces Sean “Diddy” Combs Belize Full Scholarship program to Howard University

By Aaron Humes: Leader of the Opposition Moses “Shyne” Barrow has teamed up with former mentor and label mate Sean “Diddy” Combs for a scholarship program to the latter’s alma mater, Howard University in Washington, District of Columbia.

Barrow announced on social media that a full scholarship (i.e., tuition, books, expenses, et cetera) will be available for a Sixth Form graduate seeking a Bachelor’s degree in the fields of technology, business, or education.

To qualify, applicants must show they come from a “financially challenged household;” carry a 3.0-grade point average (GPA); write an essay about the field they are pursuing and how they will use their degree to help Belize, and commit to returning to Belize after concluding studies and make a contribution to the development of the nation.

Barrow stated, “Ensuring access to education for those young people who are financially challenged is the only way Belize will ever realize her full potential. Education has always been extremely important to my dear brother Diddy and [me]; thus in that vein, I asked Diddy to make Belize a part of his philanthropic support for his alma mater Howard University so that at least one Belizean Student can get the benefit of attending one of the United States’ most prestigious [HBCUs, historically black colleges and universities]. I thank Diddy for always supporting my efforts to help Belize in every way possible.”
