Briceno administration completes 2 years of “rebounding and rebuilding”

Posted: Thursday, November 10, 2022. 8:16 pm CST.

By Zoila Palma Gonzalez: Today marks 2 years since John Briceno became Prime Minister of Belize and his new administration assumed office in Belmopan.

Campaigning on a #PlanBelize agenda and recognizing that ‘Everybody fi win’, the new PUP administration swept the elections winning 26 seats and the UDP won 5 seats.

Prime Minister John Briceno says that it has been 2 years of renewed energy for Belize.

“2 years of renewed energy for Belize… rebounding, rebuilding, facing challenges

… first COVID, then the economic horrors wreaked by the previous administration and most recently Hurricane Lisa.

But we are not deterred… we remain on track grounded by a people centered development agenda – #PlanBelize,” PM Briceno stated.

PM Briceno says that his administration freed Belize political shackles, reopened the country for investment and business and will rebuild a better Belize for all.

“November 11, 2020 started a new progressive movement for our country. The peaceful constructive revolution lives,” he added.

Among major accomplishments of the administration is the Ministry of Infrastructure Development and Housing’s Modular houses pilot program where Belizeans are beneficiaries of new homes, the implementation of the e-passport system, unconditional support for Belizean farmers, exportation and training by the Ministry of Agriculture, Food Security and Enterprise, and the ongoing curriculum reform under the Ministry of Education, Culture, Science and Technology.

Entrepreneurs across the country also participated in the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) Roadshow that included boot camp trainings, formalization clinic with key Government agencies and financial institutions and a pop-up shop to display their products.

And, the Lands Department conducted mobile land clinics in an attempt to assist Belizeans who have tried for years to process their land titles and land transfers.

Amidst the COVID-19 pandemic, the Government of Belize focused on its pledge to fulfill its #PlanBelize agenda to benefit Belizeans.
