By Aaron Humes: A post-mortem examination was conducted earlier today on the body of Celia Celeste Florian Herrarte, a 35-year-old Belizean waitress of Belmopan.
The conclusion of the examiner as to the cause of death was asphyxia due to strangulation due to blunt force injuries to the head.
That suggests Florian, who was reported missing on November 2 during Hurricane Lisa but disappeared on October 31, was strangled to death after being choked with a blunt item, such as a human arm around the neck.
No conclusions were made as to whether the death was self-inflicted or the result of a homicide.
Florian’s body was discovered on the Hummingbird Highway on November 4.
Police investigations continue.
