By Zoila Palma Gonzalez: On Wednesday, November 9, 2022, the Community Police office and Commander for Community Policing in San Ignacio Sgt. Jason Jones recognized 22 Volunteer Special Constables (SC) for their hard work and dedication.

On behalf of the Belize Police Department, Sgt. Jones extended gratitude for the commitment and dedication by the Special Constables.

“On behalf of the Belize Police Department, I thank you all for your hard work over the years. I think the San Ignacio formation could not be where it is at without the Special Constables and the assistance given to the police,” Sgt. Jones said.

President of the Special Constables Committee in Cayo, George Gomez also thanked the SC’s for their dedication.

Volunteer Special Constables give their time to assist the police in conducting patrols and fighting and preventing crime. All of their work is voluntary.

New elections for the executive committee of the Cayo Special Constables committee will be held in January 2023.
