U.S. Embassy donates over US $97,300 in disaster relief supplies to Belize

By Zoila Palma Gonzalez: Today, the United States Embassy in Belize donated US $97,300 in disaster relief supplies to the Government of Belize.

The supplies will assist Belizean communities that were impacted by Hurricane Lisa.

The donation is being funded through the U.S. Southern Command (SOUTHCOM) Humanitarian Assistance Program.

Chargé d’Affairs, a.i. Leyla Moses-Ones met with Chair of the National Emergency Management Organization (NEMO) Foreign Assistance Committee Ambassador Amalia Mai and the NEMO leadership to deliver the items and review hurricane damages and relief efforts across the country.

The supplies include hygiene and cleaning supplies, first aid kits, and construction materials.

The supplies will provide immediate and meaningful support to those greatest in need.
