The People’s United Party (PUP) campaigned on a #PlanBelize agenda recognizing that “Everybody fi win” and swept away the 2020 elections winning 26 seats.

On the 2nd anniversary of assuming office, Prime Minister John Briceño says that his administration has rescued the Belize dollar, reduced poverty, and restored economic vitality.

“On this anniversary of that dramatic election, I offer to all Belizeans my administration’s gratitude, as well as our untiring resolve to bring betterment for our citizens, our families, and our communities and for our beloved Belize. Together, in twenty-four short months, a people and their government have achieved near miraculous results: rescuing the Belizean dollar, reducing poverty, remedying the public debt crisis, restoring economic vitality and most importantly, replenishing the exhausted stock of national confidence,” PM Briceño said.

Prime Minister Briceño says that the national confidence garnered by his administration has been the consequence of real progress that people can touch and feel; from action and not just words.

“Today, thousands more Belizeans are working – the unemployment rate has fallen to 9.2%. – Hundreds of new homes and housing repair grants have been distributed to those most deserving. – Thousands of land lease and grants have been issued or regularized. – Our children are back in school and in south side, Belize City students who wish to attend high school in their communities can go for FREE. – The salaries of 15,000 public officers, cut as a result of the UDP mess, have now been reinstated,” PM Briceño added.

The Prime Minister also shared that for the first time ever, industry and entrepreneurship are being nurtured and rewarded through the Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprise (MSME) programs.

Amidst the COVID-19 pandemic, the Government of Belize focused on its pledge to fulfill its #PlanBelize agenda to benefit Belizeans.
