Police investigating death of inmate at Belize Central Prison

By Benjamin Flowers: The Belize Police Department is conducting an investigation into the death of an inmate at the Belize Central Prison that was reported this week.

Guards doing their rounds on Thursday, November 10, found 23-year-old Evan Gonzales, on the ground motionless in a cell in Tango 8 with marks around his neck.

The prison’s medical staff made attempts to revive Gonzales, but were unsuccessful.

Police say his body now lies at the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital (KHMH), where a post mortem examination will be conducted to determine the cause of death.
