United States Marine Corps celebrates its 247th birthday

By Zoila Palma Gonzalez: On Friday, the United States Embassy in Belize hosted the traditional cake-cutting ceremony to mark the 247^th birthday of the United States Marine Corps.

“We celebrated the more than two centuries of courageous service by #Marines deployed around the world – a global force of freedom and security,” the U.S. Embassy said.

In line with the tradition, the first piece of cake was presented to the guest of honor, the second piece to the oldest Marine present, and the third piece to the youngest Marine.

The United States Marine Corps was founded on November 10, 1775, and continue to valiantly serve their country.

“Happy Birthday, Marines! We thank you for your service!,” the Embassy added.
