By Breaking Belize News Staff: A police officer accused of withholding evidence is out on bail but will not go to trial until next year due to a shortage of magistrates.
PC #217, 28-year-old Herman Ramos, was charged with a single count of perverting the course of justice, after he allegedly hid a firearm that was used in the commission of a crime.
Due to the nature of the offense, only the charge was read to him but no plea was taken.
Ramos received bail in the sum of $2,000 plus one surety of the same, which he was able to meet. His trial is scheduled for January 12, 2023.
Allegations against him are that he took a .9mm pistol from Mervin Domingo, who was charged with discharging his licensed firearm in public.
