BREAKING: Another traffic accident at same location in Blackman Eddy claims life of Special Patrol Unit (SPU) Officer

By Hugh O’Brien: A traffic accident that occurred on Monday night on the George Price Highway has claimed the life of a well known police officer attached to the Special Patrol Unit (SPU).

The incident occurred shortly after 10 pm at the same location that another accident had occurred on Sunday night. In Sunday night’s incident, Desmond Gordon, is alleged to have fallen from a moving vehicle and sustained critical head injuries.

The SPU Officer was gathering information at the scene of Sunday night’s accident when a vehicle travelling towards Belmopan hit the officer causing his death. After knocking down the officer, the driver ran off the road into a culvert on the side of the road. There were two (2) occupants in the vehicle that hit the police officer and ran off the road; one of the occupant was injured and he was transported by ambulance to the Western Regional Hospital in Belmopan, while the other individual was taken into custody by police.

Police officers from San Ignacio and Belmopan responded to the scene gathering information and mourning the loss of their colleague.
