By Aaron Humes: John Saldivar was bullish in response to news that he has been barred from the United States and accused of acts of “significant corruption,” saying he would seek legal representation to fight the charges against him.
In a social media post, Saldivar complained that “No due process has been observed, no contact has been made with me, no evidence has been provided to me, but the mighty United States has chosen to impugn my character and malign my reputation.”
The announcement and its contents he described as “completely out of the left field, baseless and malicious” and insists that his actions while a Minister of Government was conducted “with absolute probity and integrity.”
And Saldivar professes befuddlement as to why he has been so suddenly targeted without any public evidence, or to guess who might be “so powerful” as to target him with the support of the State Department.
Saldivar said he would consult with local attorneys and try to obtain a U.S. attorney to help fight the charge and lift the sanctions against his wife and children whom he says are unfairly targeted.
But Saldivar concludes with a challenge to those he says wish to drive him out of politics, saying, “My resolve is even stronger now.”
Saldivar consistently maintained the innocence of actual wrongdoing while conceding to questionable relationships with the likes of Lev Dermen and William “Danny” Mason, both now incarcerated. He was accused of allegedly taking bribes for the processing of immigration documents and misusing a Coast Guard boat donated by the Americans for his own gain.
