Ministry of Agriculture celebrates Belize City’s Police St. Extension greenhouse growers

By Rubén Morales Iglesias: The Ministry of Agriculture, Food Security, and Enterprise (MAFSE) on Tuesday celebrated the sweet pepper harvest by Belize City’s Police St. Extension greenhouse growers.

“50 lbs of green success,” said MAFSE.

“In February/March of this year, the Ministry of Agriculture, Food Security and Enterprise partnered with the Belize City Council to support urban gardening. A green house (one of several MAFSE supported for the city) was erected on Police Street Extension. Fast forward to November and Citco reports their recent greenhouse harvest of sweet peppers was in excess of 50 lbs!!”

The Ministry of Agriculture said they are tremendously proud and promised to continue supporting the small farmers’ ventures with the Belize City Council and other partners.
