Two men remanded to prison for armed robbery

By Breaking Belize News Staff: Two men were remanded to the Belize Central Prison this week over robbery and firearms charges.

Twenty-seven-year-old Troy Augustus and 22-year-old Orin Garcia appeared in the Belize City Magistrate’s Court on Monday, charged with two counts of robbery and one count of kept firearm without a license.

Both men pleaded not guilty to the charges, but since the offense was allegedly committed with a firearm, bail was denied in the first instance and they were sent to prison. They have the option of applying for bail via the Supreme Court, through the assistance of an attorney.

They are scheduled to return to court on January 16, 2023.

Allegations against them are that they entered a warehouse on Amara Avenue on Friday, November 11, and held the two warehouse supervisors at gunpoint, robbing them of their cellphones and accessories to a total value of $2,800.
