U.S. State Department to announce that a former Government minister will lose visa due to official misconduct

Posted: Tuesday, November 15, 2022. 2:08 pm CST.

By Aaron Humes: According to Channel 7 News, the office of American Secretary of State Anthony Blinken is to make a major announcement today about consequences of official misconduct by at least one former Government minister of the United Democratic Party.

Reports suggest that the unnamed ex-minister will have his U.S. visa revoked due to “official misconduct” occurring when he was in office.

Several former Government Ministers are presently being investigated in Belize and at least one is already facing charges.

The U.S. has regularly decried corruption in the Government of Belize, most notably through its annual report on human rights and freedoms released in March and its annual report on trafficking in persons which has noted alleged involvement of senior government officials in perpetuating and covering up the trafficking trade in Belize.
