Verdes Rebels shock Rumberas 4-0 in National Amateur Women’s League

By Rubén Morales Iglesias: Verdes Rebels shocked Rumberas 4-0 in the National Amateur Women’s League A Division on Saturday at the Norman Broaster Stadium in San Ignacio.

Sagitun GIRLZ twice beat the Rumberas 3-0 in June and before that, last December, Jewel Fury blanked Rumberas 4-0. Other than that, Rumberas have been rather steady and had never been run over by Verdes, but this past weekend it was Verdes’ time to shine.

Shantel Robinson struck the first goal in the 14^th and then it was the Jessie McLaughlin show. The Verdes striker scored a hat trick hitting home in the 32’, 39’, and 64’.

After two games each and the end of the first round, the Sagitun GIRLZ lead the NAWL A with six points, Verdes Rebels have three, and Rumberas don’t have any.

The next game features the Verdes Rebels and Sagitun GIRLZ on Saturday, November 19, in Cayo.
