Police charge driver for traffic accident that claimed life of Police Corporal Shannon Middleton

By Benjamin Flowers: Police have charged a man for the fatal traffic accident that claimed the life of 34-year-old Police Corporal Shannon Middleton.

Today, officers formally arrested and charged 39-year-old Luis Fernando Mejia Guerra for the crimes of Manslaughter by negligence; Causing death by careless conduct; Driving a motor vehicle without due care and attention; and Without reasonable excuse, failed to provide a specimen when required to do so.

Corporal Middleton was knocked down while processing a crime scene near Mile 58 on the George Price Highway in Blackman Eddy Village on Monday, November 14. Middleton died at the scene of the accident.

Mejia was also hospitalized due to the accident and this caused a delay with the charges.
