An update from National Emergency Management Organization’s (NEMO) response to Hurricane Lisa, noted that after the preliminary assessment, 140 homes were destroyed.
In addition, more than 1,300 properties sustained varying levels of damage.
And, more than 35,000 tons of debris was removed from Belize City.
Therefore, Cabinet recommended that a supplementary appropriations bill be presented for hurricane relief at the next sitting of the House of Representatives.
Cabinet also gave its approval for a supplementary appropriations bill to allocate funds to repair damages and upgrade the Supreme Court buildings in Belize City.
