Altitude captain Dellon ‘Dee Breezy’ Torres suffers knee ligament tear, needs surgery

By Rubén Morales Iglesias: Altitude captain Dellon ‘Dee Breezy’ Torres tore his anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee in the Premier League of Belize semifinal against Progresso last Sunday in Orange Walk. The injury was confirmed after a MRI (Magnetic resonance imaging) examination performed on Thursday at Belize Medical Associates in Belize City.

“Our Captain Dellon Torres suffered an ACL injury in the Semi Final game VS Progresso at the People’s Stadium in Orange Walk. Please keep Dee Breezy in your prayers!” said Altitude in a social media post.

Altitude manager Jordan Zabaneh said Torres will require surgery and will be out for the next six to eight months.

That means that not only is he missing the rest of the present tournament but will miss most, if not all, of the Closing Championship which should kick off in January.

Torres suffered the injury as he scored the opening goal in the 2-1 win over Progresso in the 54^th minute, finishing a long pass from Miguel García. With pinpoint preciseness, Torres nailed the ball into the net past goalkeeper Luisito Cunil but bent his knee in the process causing the ACL tear. You could safely say that was a costly goal.

Dellon is the younger brother of Ashley ‘Tosa’ Torres and cousin of Luis ‘Baca’ Torres, both starters in the Altitude line-up.
