By Rubén Morales Iglesias: “The Nohoch Che’en Reserve remains closed due to elevated river conditions,” said the Institute of Archaeology in the National Institute of Culture and History (IA/NICH) on Saturday.

The IA/NICH said the Actun Tunichil Muknal (ATM) and Barton Creek Reserves have been fully operational since Friday.

The Nohoch Che’en Caves Branch Reserve has been closed since Thursday.

The IA/NICH said all other archaeological reserves are open to visitors.

At the same time, the archaeological institute said it will continue to monitor river conditions and provide necessary updates. The Institute also advised visitors to always exercise caution and to be aware of weather conditions and the possibility of flash floods.
