By Aaron Humes: A long-standing worker of the San Ignacio/Santa Elena Town Council has been hospitalized along with two of her children following a domestic incident.
Early this morning, Angelita Requeña and her common-law husband got into a domestic dispute at their Esperanza Village, Cayo District home.
During the altercation that followed, the common-law husband reportedly stabbed Requeña several times in the upper part of her body. The man then attacked Requeña’s 16-year-old son and 14-year-old daughter; both children also received stab wounds.
The victims were transported to the Western Regional Hospital in Belmopan. One of the minors received very serious injuries and is in critical condition.
Requeña is currently the San Ignacio Town Market’s caretaker and a former traffic officer. Police investigations continue as the suspect is being sought.
