International News: Gunmen attack police station in Mexico

By Zoila Palma Gonzalez: On Sunday, gunmen opened fire on a police station in Guanajuato, Mexico injuring 3 police officers, the Associated Press reports.

Authorities say that several of the attackers were killed when police responded with gunfire.

The north-central state of Guanajuato has the highest number of murders in any of Mexico’s 32 states.

The state has been the scene of a years-long turf battle between the Jalisco cartel, and local gangs supported by its arch-rival, the Sinaloa cartel.
