International News: Shenseea faces Copyright Lawsuit for ‘Foreplay’ video

By Zoila Palma Gonzalez: Popular Jamaican dancehall artist, Shenseea is facing a second copyright infringement lawsuit, this time for U.S. $450,000 over the music video for her 2019 song, Foreplay, DancehallMag reports.

Visual artist, Stephanie Sarley known for her Instagram “fruit art videos,” filed the suit accusing Shenseea of stealing her artwork and embedding it in the Foreplay video.

Sarley is reportedly seeking US $150,000 each for alleged infringement on 3 of her works, plus attorney fees.

Sarley says that Shenseea’s original ‘Foreplay’ video infringed on her “unique line of sensual fruit imagery.” 

That video has since been removed from Youtube.

‘Foreplay’ was released in October 2019 and the complaint said that the original video had almost 40 seconds of footage from the “Original Works (sometimes altered slightly in tone or hue)”.
