By Rubén Morales Iglesias: Saudi Arabia shocked Argentina and the world today by beating Lionel Messi and company 2-1 in their first Group C match.

Argentina got an early lead when Messi converted a penalty kick in the 10th minute but the wave turned over when Saleh AL-Shehri drew even in the 48th minute. All hell broke loose in the 53rd when Salem Al Dawari scored a superb goal that would turn out to be the winning strike for the final 2-1 sending shock waves everywhere.

Argentina mounted a full-force attack all the way to the long whistle but to no avail.

The loss was the first international loss for Argentina in 37 games. Prior Argentina had raked 25 wins and 11 draws.
