By Breaking Belize News Staff: A 45-year-old Belizean man charged with throwing objects at police found himself in even more trouble as officers found him with a knife in the crack of his buttocks.
Deon Guzmán was arraigned in the Belize City Magistrate’s Court on Monday, answering to one count of throwing missiles and one count of possession of article with a blade.
He immediately pleaded guilty to both offences and was fined $250+$5.00 cost of court for possession of article with a blade and $55.00 for throwing missiles. He needs to pay both his fines by February 3, 2023, or he will spend 2 months and two weeks respectively.
On November 19, police conducting foot patrols near Pound Yard Bridge saw two men making lots of noise on the street. They stopped Guzmán who was on a bicycle and told him to get off, in response he threw a pint bottle. Police searched him on the spot and found nothing, but took him to a police station to search him thoroughly when he began acting suspiciously.
When officers found the knife in his buttocks, Guzmán said that he was carrying it around for his protection.
