International News: Another Mexican journalist murdered in deadly year for media professionals

By Zoila Palma Gonzalez: On Monday, AX Noticias confirmed the death of Mexican journalist, Pedro Pablo Kamul, Reuters report.

Kamul was a radio reporter and host at AX Noticias and Es Amor.

Kamul was reportedly shot dead in Veracruz, Mexico, turf for several violent gangs, adding to the death toll for the bloodiest year to date for local media workers.

The media company has since demanded for an official investigation into his death and punishment for those responsible.

“We regret the terrible event that happened this afternoon in the town of Castillo where our friend, announcer and reporter for this media outlet Ax Noticias y Es Amor 104.5 HD Pedro Pablo lost his life,” a statement from the company said.

The free-speech organization Article 19 says that they have documented 18 murders and 331 attacks against local journalists in the first 8 months of this year.
