Ladyville man busted with crack cocaine pleads guilty to drug possession

By Breaking Belize News: A Ladyville man who tried to hide crack cocaine in his palm during a police search has been fined for drug possession.

Forty-six-year-old Santos Lazo appeared unrepresented in the Belize City Magistrate’s Court on Monday, where he was read a single charge of possession of controlled drugs.

Lazo pleaded not guilty to the charge and was fined $200 plus cost of court which he must pay by December 30 or face two months in jail.

Police say that around 2:30 p.m. on November 14, police stopped Lazo near a shop and performed a search, finding a small amount of crack cocaine that could not adequately be determined by a scale.
