Special Envoy’s Wonder Woman is Exemplary educator, Deanna Nisbet

Today’s feature is on exemplary educator, Deanna Teresa Encalada Nisbet.

Nisbet has been an educator her entire life.

She began her career teaching at St. Catherine Academy and thereafter, at St. John’s College/St. John’s Junior College, where she taught for 25 years.

Nisbet has been a mentor to her students and was instrumental in molding them into successful, professional young men and women.

Nisbet has served in various community and business organizations, namely, St. Catherine Elementary Board of Directors, (now Belize Elementary School), the Belize Chamber of Commerce, The Lion’s Club, The Belize Youth Hostel, and others.

Nisbet also ran and her slate won the 1986 Belize City Council Elections. Nisbet topped the polls and was the only woman in the slate.

During her term as a City Councilor, Nisbet contributed to a safe and clean Belize City.

Today, Nisbet is recently retired from education (2019), where she last served as Principal and President of Belize Elementary School and Belize High School for 23 years.

For her many years of service and dedication to Education in Belize, Nisbet was presented with the Belizean Patriot Award which she humbly accepted on behalf of all the Belizean men and women she educated.

Nisbet is an active retiree, assisting in community activities in her church community, as well as serving her community at large.

She recently published a biography written by Canadian author, Jeanette Winsor which highlights her life of service.

Nisbet’s life is exemplary of the Golden Rule……”Do onto others as you would have them do onto you.”
